The Crab with the Golden Claws is a two-part episode of The Adventures of Tintin, produced by Ellipse-Nelvana, based on the book of the same name by Hergé. This was the first episode of the show's first season, which makes this the first episode screened.
Changes from the Book[]
The episode starts with a scene of a meeting between Bunji Kuraki and Herbert Dawes, which is only referred to in the book. Tintin aboard the Karaboudjan encounters an imprisoned Kuraki, which is not depicted in the book. He tells Tintin about Allan's plans. In the book, however, Tintin sees the drugs with his own eyes. Also, unlike the book, Captain Haddock does not start a fire on the lifeboat that he, Tintin and Snowy use to escape the Karaboudjan on. The plane crash before the desert is also changed.
In the book, Haddock is drunk and hits Tintin with a bottle, only to row himself. In the adaption (and in the 50-60s adaption also), Haddock is innocent, and they let the pilot (the other is removed) attack Tintin. As in the 50-60´s adaptation, the ending is rewritten, replacing the fishing net with a rope.

Production errors[]
- In the English version, when the two dock workers ask Tintin if he is alright after dodging the falling crate, only one voice is heard.
- When Pedro Closed the door of the room wear Tintin's kept prisoner, his shirt was indigo-blue instead of purple.
- Tom's voice over changes between parts 1 and 2, even during the recap when he says "You disappoint us, Dawes."
- In part 2, Bunji's moustache disappears in the ending.
