Sir Peter Robert Jackson, KNZM (born 31 October 1961) is a New Zealand film director, producer, actor, and screenwriter, known for his The Lord of the Rings film trilogy (2001-3), adapted from the novel by J. R. R. Tolkien.
His films include Meet the Feebles (1989), The Frighteners (1996), King Kong (2005), The Lovely Bones (2009), and the upcoming The Lord of the Rings prequels The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012) and The Hobbit: There and Back Again (2013). He is also the producer of District 9 (2009) and The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn (2011).
