MacGregor is a retired seaman and notorious storyteller from Scotland who appears in The Black Island.

History[]

Sometime during his career as a seafarer, MacGregor was told of the tale of the legendary beast of the Black Island, subsequently sticking with him for generations to come. After Tintin is recuperated in Scotland during his goal to sabotage J.W. Müller and the Counterfeit Ring of The Black Island's story, he meets MacGregor at a local pub in the coastal village of Kiltoch. There, MacGregor tells Tintin the very same tale of the beast who roams the Black Island and its claimed horrific powers and abilities. MacGregor later appears again at the end of the story where he contradicts his beliefs of the Black Island's monster as only a rumour, until he is scared away by Ranko, the true "beast" of the Black Island suddenly appearing at where the citizens and press are at during the story's end.

Character[]

MacGregor is a gruff, elderly Scotsman who has reserved, cryptic storytelling knowledge and abilities that have been implied to be notorious among those who know him such as the bartender at the local Kiltoch pub he often goes to. However, he can be seen as a bit of a hypocrite as after the truth of the Black Island's once widely-believed tale and more recent use as a hideout for the Counterfeit Ring is exposed, he bluntly brushes off the tale of the Black Island's monster as only a long-circulated rumour.
