King Ottokar's Sceptre is a two-part episode of The Adventures of Tintin, produced by Ellipse-Nelvana, based on the book of the same name by Hergé.

Changes from the Book[]

In the adaptation the imposter of Professor Hector Alembick smokes while the latter doesn't. It is however the reverse in the book. Also, in the TV episode, when Tintin is dropped down from the airplane on the way to Klow, he discovers the imposter Professor's suitcase instead of his own where he finds out about the Alembick twins and a notebook with his photograph and clues which lead to the conspiracy of stealing the Ottokar Sceptre, while in the book, the notebook is shown to Tintin later by the minister. Bianca Castafiore's directly drops Tintin to Klow, while Tintin gets off on the way where he gets arrested but later escapes and reaches Klow by foot while the imposter Alembick is in Kropow Castle. In the TV episode however, the imposter Alembick reaches Kropow Castle to photograph the sceptre when Tintin finally meets the King on his second attempt to warn him.

In the book, Tintin got hungry and was chased back by border guards, while in the TV episode Tintin accidentally crossed the border because he found a Bordurian airfield. In the book, Tintin got the clue that the camera was faked from a toy store, while in the episode Tintin got the clue by looking at the cannons outside Kropow Castle. Also, King Muskar XII is renamed "King Ottokar XII."
