Ivan is the criminal worker of the counterfeiting crooks led by Dr. J.W. Müller in The Black Island.
History[]
Upon the height of the Counterfeit Ring's operations, Ivan became Müller's most preferred assistant to carry out some of the most dastardly work of their doings, such as knocking out Tintin unconscious just outside the English town of Eastdown, leading to a brief capture after a spot of trouble was faked with the car he and Puschov drove. Ivan and the rest of the counterfeiting members are eventually arrested near the end of the adventure's story.
Trivia[]
- It has been suggested by some interpreters that Ivan is a white Russian, exiled after the Communist victory of the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917.
- For unknown reasons, Ivan's physical appearance is switched and replaced in the Ellipse-Nelvana adaptation of The Black Island. In the original comic book, Ivan is the individual who usually wears an automobile driver uniform. In the aforementioned adaptation, this depiction of the character is removed entirely and the unnamed Counterfeit Ring associate from the book who has black hair, a moustache, wears a trench coat, bow-tie, and fedora is now instead Ivan.
